The Greatest Dynasties ever

Coming off the New England Patriots sixth Super Bowl title in the 'Bellichick and Brady", it's no doubt they should be considered one of the greatest dynasties ever. But they have competition. Here are the greatest dynasties to ever exist:

New England Patriots 2001-19

The amazing thing is this dynasty could still be going. But this is a run unlike any franchise has ever seen. They not only have six Super Bowl titles over an 18-year span, they have nine super Bowl appearances and 14 championship game appearances in 18 years. They also are one of two teams in NFL history to go through a regular season undefeated, and if it's not for David Tyree, they would also be the greatest single season of all-time. There are so many records they've broken (like Brady having six rings) it can go on for three pages. There's no other franchise that can compare to this.

Chicago Bulls 1991-1998

If not for Michael Jordan taking two years off to try out baseball, this would likely be a team that won EIGHT NBA titles in a row. Now the current Warriors team are making a run at the Bulls dynasty, but they're not there yet. Michael Jordan, like Brady, has six rings on his finger and many argue he is not just the greatest NBA player of all-time, but possibly the greatest athlete of all-time.

Alabama Crimson Tide 2009-2018

I'm not one to put college teams on this list as players change every year. But coaches don't, and this one is on Nick Saban. Despite their championship loss this past year to Clemson, Saban has dominated the college football world. Since the playoffs began in 2014, Alabama has been to every single one. They won national championships in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017. They also went to title games in 2016 and 2018 only to lose to Clemson. Like Phil Jackson and Bill Bellichick, Saban has six national titles as he also had one at LSU.

Boston Celtics 1958-1969

Red Auerbach's 10 rings can't be topped in the NBA. Neither can the Celtics run of 8 straight titles, 10 in 11 years and 11 straight finals appearances. Sorry, folks, that's just sick. Bill Russell dominated the game in those days and Bob Cousey contributed to the Celtics success. The Celtics kept winning titles after this generation, all the way into Larry Bird's generation in the mid-80s.

Montreal Canadiens 1956-1979

This was three seperate dynasties broken up into three decades, but you could argue the Canadiens were the team of the 50s, 60s and 70s in hockey. They won 5 straight Stanley cup in the 50s, 4 straight in the 70s and total of 15 in a 24-year span. Amazingly they were 15-1 in Stanley Cup finals in this span.

UCLA Basketball 1964-1975

John Wooden's UCLA Bruins dominated the game for a 12-year span. They won 10 national titles, something no other team has come close to accomplishing in that type of time span. Kareem Abdul Jabar and Bill Walton helped lead UCLA and continued their success in the NBA.

Roger Federer 2002-2019

What makes this individual feat so impressiove is how long it has spanned. Many tennis players have 5-10 year dynasties, but none have one that's ranging on almost 20 years. He was the best at age 21 and he's one of the best still at age 38. Twenty major titles and counting, Federer is one of the greatest individual sport athletes of all-time. Now whether he goes down as the greatest tennis player of all-time is up to Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal who are closing in on his major title count.

Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods

Tiger was close to being left off this list because of the fact it was just a 10-year run for a golfer, but the fact he has bounced back from numerous surgeries and supplanted himself once again as one of the best players in the world at age 43 keeps him on this list. Jack Nicklaus has 18 major titles and has the best "overall career" of a golfer, something Tiger is trying to top. Many, however, claim Tiger was the best at his peak, becoming the only golfer in 2000-2001 to hold all four majors at one time.

UConn Women's Basketball 2000-2019

UConn's women's basketball team has totaled 10 championships in this span, including five undefeated perfect seasons. And the run is still going. Geno Auriemma continues to keep this college dynasty as one of the greatest ever.
